Bridgeport officials collect items to benefit Venezuela earthquake victims

City leaders and residents collected emergency supplies Friday that will benefit people impacted by the recent earthquakes in Venezuela.
Organizers say the drop-off site was busy throughout the day.
They say their top priority is to get all the donations directly to people impacted by the natural disaster.
"We care about Bridgeport and we want to help the people of Venezuela, and this is going to be part of that," says Mayor Joe Ganim.
News 12 is told once the donations were collected in Bridgeport, they were put on a truck bound for Brooklyn, where they were dropped off.
From there, the items will be shipped to Venezuela.
