Bridgeport police are collecting donations to help homeless veterans

Bridgeport police are asking for the public's help in supporting homeless veterans.
The department is looking for donations to benefit Homes for the Brave.
"We're looking for food, clothes, toiletries, cleaning items, linens and other miscellaneous items, even gift cards that we will turn over to Homes for the Brave to support our veterans here in Bridgeport who are in need," says Chief Roderick Porter.
Items can be dropped at police headquarters at 300 Congress Street.
Porter tells News 12 last week, the department received the 2023 Stephen Koteles Award from Greater Bridgeport Veterans Council for demonstrating the value of veterans to the community. Many of the department's officers have served in the military.
