? The Bridgeport Police Union narrowly approved a new contract Monday by a mere 15 votes.
The deal, approved 156-141, is expected to save the city $800,000. The union has agreed to give up pay raises for two years, defer vacation pay and get rid of all take-home vehicles.
In exchange, the city will not make any department layoffs and has agreed to give union members larger pay raises during the last two years of the four-year contract.
