The Bridgeport school district held a basketball tournament at Harding High School Tuesday to promote inclusion.
Students from three of the district's high schools came together to participate.
The Unified Sports program promotes inclusivity by forming teams with both special needs and non-special needs athletes.
Bridgeport Public Schools started the program back in 2019.
After a pause because of the pandemic, the program is back.
Athletes from Harding, Bassick and Central may be on different teams but were unified under one roof with the same goal.
Bridgeport Public Schools says athletes will compete in a track event next.
The district says it's working to grow the program by competing with neighboring school systems in the future.
