Dr. John Maduko, who currently heads the state's community colleges, will take over as interim president of CSCU.
The leadership change follows two audits that revealed current chancellor Terrence Cheng spent lavishly on his state credit card.
Cheng will remain with the system as a consultant for another year at his full $442,000 salary.
