A Bridgeport woman received a special surprise Saturday for her 100th birthday.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch presented Florisa Anderson with commendations for her decades of service to her family and the community.
"Her life could be a model for any young person who wants to live the American dream," Blumenthal said.
Anderson came to the U.S. from the British Virgin Islands at the age of 39. Her family describes her as a quiet, dignified woman who always puts the needs of others before her own.
