Don Wilson -- CEO of the nonprofit Bridgeport Youth Lacrosse -- was all smiles as the head of another local nonprofit, Giants in the Community, presented him with a $500 check at Bridgeport's North Branch Library Tuesday morning.
"This money will help us achieve our mission of teaching kids life lessons through sports lessons -- as part of our overall goal of keeping kids in school and off the streets," Wilson said.
John Shaban heads up the Redding-based nonprofit Giants in the Community. "We are thrilled to provide this help -- though it's merely a drop in the bucket -- to Bridgeport Youth Lacrosse, which shares many of the same goals and values as our organization, Giants in the Community," Shaban said.
Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim was on hand to present the check.
"It's wonderful to see two great nonprofits doing amazingly positive things in Bridgeport, all as part of an effort to promote education and fitness among Bridgeport kids," Ganim said.
