Cardinal Shehan Center in Bridgeport has a new addition, an all-new recording studio to help children keep busy after school.
This month, it's launching its first set of classes for teens free of cost, along with a program for younger kids on podcasting and radio.
Teasha Bivins and the Cardinal Shehan Center say the new Beats Center recording studio will be a new opportunity for the Bridgeport youth to experience.
With gear and a layout endorsed by her husband, Mike Bivins of New Edition and Bell Biv Devoe, will have the latest technology.
"This room feels like you're in a professional recording studio, within the center. That's the ambiance you must have in order to get anybody excited from the moment they walk in the door," said Bivins.
The recording room includes a vocal recording booth, mixing board and state-of-the-art software that pros like Bivins and The Skinny Boys use.
The youth will have access to a team of talented engineers and pro equipment.
"It's going to inspire somebody," Bivens said. "I really do think when we finish this session, if we decide to do a showcase, I think we're going to identify a star, I do."
