Bronx veterans held a prayer service Saturday for the country?s fallen soldiers dating back to the Civil War.
A wreath ceremony was held at the Old Soldier?s Cemetery in Tremont. Community leaders, family and friends joined veterans for the ceremony, which included a moment of silence for the deceased.
?[Soldiers] are fighting right this day in Afghanistan and sacrificing their lives. We want them to know that we support them, that their life is not going in vain,? said Francisco Gonzalez, a Bronx veteran.
The burial ground at Old Soldier?s Cemetery dates back to the 1800s.
