A South Bronx community group wants to know more about an Italian jewelry and furniture company that could be expanding into the Bronx.
The location at 150 Bruckner Blvd. could be the home of Sicis North America. The company makes high-end furniture, lighting, home accessories and jewelry.
There is already one location in SoHo on Broome Street. According to New York City Economic Development Corporation, the total projected cost to open the location would be $15.5 million with a tax exemption of about $9 million.
The city says the company would create six new jobs in the Bronx. South Bronx Unite says that number of jobs is too low.
In the past, South Bronx Unite protested the plan for FreshDirect to come to the Bronx.
There was no word from the company as to when it plans to move forward with its proposal.
