Police have located the car that they say struck a woman twice during a hit-and-run in Mott Haven.
Investigators say a white Impala with a black panel, which was seen on surveillance video, was found in Mount Vernon on Tuesday, but the driver has not yet been caught.
They say 50-year-old Christina Aybar was crossing East 138th Street and Bruckner Boulevard with a group of friends Monday afternoon when she and the driver of the Impala exchanged some words. Those close to the victim say the driver made a U-turn and came charging at the crowd.
Aybar reportedly pushed her friend to safety, taking the hit herself. Investigators say the driver then put the vehicle in reverse and ran her over again.
Aybar's family spoke exclusively to News 12 The Bronx, saying they are hopeful there will be an arrest soon.
Meanwhile, Aybar remains in critical condition at Lincoln Hospital. Her brother says she is doing a little bit better, and can move her hands, lips and eyes.
