Two men were arrested today for allegedly robbing a Westport bank and leading police on a wrong-way chase on the Merritt Parkway.
Police say 30-year-old Carmello Dekane and 35-year-old Jermaine Cowan got away with cash from the TD Bank on Post Road East at around 10 a.m. A man who works at a nearby garden center says he saw the two suspects run to their alleged getaway car and then take off.
Police say an officer in an unmarked car spotted them on Post Road and the suspects got on the Merritt Parkway, heading in the wrong way. The suspects' car crashed after hitting two other cars near exit 41. Officers later arrested the suspects after they fled on foot.
No one was seriously hurt in the crash on the parkway. Both suspects are due in court tomorrow.
