A city amnesty program that allows drivers with overdue parking tickets to pay reduced fines will come to an end at the end of January.
The settlement started in 2005 to reduce the backlog for an administrative judge, but now the Department of Finance says it needs to eliminate it because of demands on the city's budget.
A spokesperson for the department says that it can't keep a program that only benefits people who park illegally.
