The second annual Hastings Color Run brought a burst of color to the village today, raising funds for local teachers and schools.

The event started at Hastings High School, wound through town and ended at Zinsser Park. Along the way, volunteers at five color stations splashed runners and walkers with vibrant powder.

The fundraiser supports the Hastings PTSA, with proceeds going back to teachers and schools through grants for programs not covered by the regular school budget.

PTSA organizers say those grants help fund author visits, field trips and other creative classroom opportunities.

Parents, children and community members took part in the run, walking and cheering as the colors flew.

Organizers say the colorful powder is made of corn starch — and yes, it washes out.
