Another company is voluntarily recalling its blood pressure medication over concerns the tablets might contain trace amounts of a cancer-causing ingredient.
Aurobindo Pharma USA is voluntarily recalling 80 lots of its Valsartan tablets because they might include a human carcinogen called N-nitrosodiethylamine, or NDEA.
The company says they have not received any reports of illnesses or adverse effects.
According to the recall notice, patients taking the recalled medication should contact their pharmacist or doctor to find an alternative medication, but should not stop using the tablets until they find a suitable substitute.
Immediately stopping medication without an alternative could be dangerous.
The recall comes about two months after Teva Pharmaceuticals recalled two of its blood pressure drugs for the same concerns.
