Inspired by a spike in crime, an anti-violence movement in Bridgeport held its first meeting today to come up with ways to turn their ideas into action.

DJ Kingsley Osei, who created the group, Connecticut Against Violence, says he formed the movement following a recent rise in violent crime, including the murder of a 14-year-old boy last week. After forming the group on Facebook, Osei organized the group's first public meeting, and dozens of concerned residents showed up.

"A lot of people are talking about the level of violence, talking about how tragic it is, but nobody is talking about what they should be doing," said Osei.

Also attending the meeting were members of the Bridgeport Police Department, who have formed a partnership with the group.
