Firefighters from across the state paid their final respects to one of their own, who died helping fight the brush fires in central Connecticut.
Funeral services were held at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford for Wethersfield firefighter Robert Sharkevich.
Officials say the 66-year old died when a utility vehicle he was riding on rolled over on a trail.
Sharky, as he was known, spent 25 years with the Hartford fire department and 22 years with the Wethersfield volunteer fire department.
He also worked for Wethersfield Public Schools in maintenance and carpentry.
Sharky is being remembered as a kind-hearted guy who loved to joke around.
