The soup kitchens and pantries that will serve up Thanksgiving dinners for the hungry began picking up turkeys and trimmings at the Connecticut Food Bank in Fairfield Monday.
Volunteers at the food bank made sure each organization got its share of food. The volunteers also spent some time blessing the items and those families in need.
The food distributed by the food bank is expected to create more than 318,000 meals for the needy in Connecticut. Volunteers at the food bank say Thanksgiving is the shelter?s busiest time, yet donations are needed all year long.
