Nearly 400 people gathered Saturday to celebrate what would have been the 10th birthday of JR Schoen, a Darien boy who died tragically this summer from a brain tumor.
In honor of JR?s birthday, family members, friends, former teachers and other members of the community came together for the JR Forever First Annual Memorial Walk. The event was an opportunity to raise money, but also to share personal memories of JR.
The money raised from the walk will benefit two local charities, including Post 53, which is a high school run EMS crew that family members say often came to help JR.
Additional donations for the JR Schoen Memorial Fund can be sent to "JR Schoen Memorial Fund," P.O. Box 2602, Darien, CT 06820.
