Darien police say the woman who approached groups of children yesterday was harmless.
Police received three separate calls that groups of middle school students were approached on Middlesex Road.
They say the woman was a breeder who was trying to sell $1,800 black lab puppies to the 12-year-olds.
Officers say the breeder is from New York but was familiar with the area.
Local shop owners told police they recognized her and confirmed she has sold in the town in the past.
Despite being non-threatening, police urge all adults to know it is always inappropriate to approach children without parents for any reason.
