Department of Corrections employees held a public safety caravan outside headquarters in Wethersfield Friday morning to express their concerns over COVID-19 in state prisons.

They say their goal is to reduce the spread of the virus and to call attention to what they say is the agency's failure to protect workers and inmates.

Employees' demands include quarantining all symptomatic cases, distributing PPE to staff and making sure proper safety protocols are followed.
They are also asking those who can work from home to do so.

At least 600 department staff and inmates have tested positive for the virus.
