A disabled woman from Bridgeport got an early Easter miracle on Good Friday.
Workers installed a handicapped-accessible ramp at the home of Rosa Gonzales on Maplewood Avenue, so she can easily come and go.
Gonzales was shot multiple times in 2010 and has been paraplegic ever since.
News 12 Connecticut put her in touch with a nonprofit group, the Needs Clearing House, when she contacted the station to say she didn't have a safe way to get out in case of a fire. The Obie Harrington Howes Foundation, of Darien, agreed to install the $8,000 ramp at no charge to Gonzales.
Disability counselor John Esteves, who works with Gonzales, says the ramp will change her life. He says it will provide her and her 13-year-old son, Joshua, with a safe environment.
