Dr. Michael Parry says pregnant women need not be afraid of the new swine flu vaccine.
Many women are concerned with the possible side effects of the vaccine. Dr. Parry says any side effects are no different than those of the standard flu vaccine.
"It's a new strain of virus ? that's what's new," says Parry. "The process isn't new, making the vaccine is the same as every year."
Dr. Parry does say pregnant women should avoid the nasal vaccine, however, as it hasn't been tested in pregnancy. According to federal officials, 28 pregnant women have died from swine flu since late April.
