Fairfield police are investigating what they say was a vehicle takeover event Friday night.

Officers say they saw a large group gathering in the Villa Avenue Stop & Shop parking lot. When police approached, the crowd dispersed.

One officer attempted to stop a vehicle, but it fled the scene.
