A Fairfield restaurant and a Norwalk nonprofit have teamed up to feed over 400 families in Bridgeport. Layla's Falafel is donating $2 for every pint of hummus sold to Filling in the Blanks. The nonprofit takes its mobile food pantry called "Fresh Food on the Move" to local communities every weekend. "For me, it's amazing to come together with businesses and community partners and really lift our community up as a team," says Shawnee Knight, co-founder of Filling in the Blanks "It feels absolutely amazing. For us, food is the way that we express our love and it's such an important thing to give back to the community, especially a community that's been so loving to us for the past 25 years we've been in business," says Samantha Sakakini, of Layla's Falafel. Organizers say anyone interested in the cause can stop by Layla's Falafel in Stamford, Westport or Fairfield.
