New guidelines begin Saturday for those looking to go to Fairfield's beaches this Memorial Day weekend.
According to new town regulations, beach chairs, blankets, and towels must be placed 15 feet away from another group's chairs, blankets or towels.
There should be no more than five people per group, and masks must be worn when 6-foot social distancing is not possible.
There will be no grilling allowed, but concession stands will be open.
Playgrounds will remain closed, and lifeguards will be on duty from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends only until June 22.
Parking lot capacity is going to be reduced, and residents will need a 2020 beach sticker to park.
Across town at Lake Mohegan, the beach will be closed, but officials say the trails are open.
"It's really important to follow all the safety guidelines, not just for yourself but everyone around you," First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchic says.
