A trio of Fairfield teenagers have turned their love of fishing into a small business and are reeling in customers during the pandemic.
Liam Heske, 9, and Matthew Gallias, 10, got some help with their new hobby of fishing from 15-year-olds Ryan Leavey, Matthew Mennozzi and John McCloskey.
"Us three; Me, Matt and John, we love fishing. We've been doing it for a while and we just wanted to pass that on," says Leavey.
They created a website, then used social media to get the word out. No experience is necessary and rods, tackle and bait are all provided.
"We can take anyone," sats Mennozzi. "Teach them how to cast, hold fish, tie the knots, how to work the lures."
The teens say they are netting a profit amid the pandemic and estimate having 15 to 20 clients currently, the first of which were Matthew and Liam.
"I think the reason we're getting a bunch of people is because... all the camps, the summer sports, they're all shut down for the beginning of the summer at least," says Leavey.
Lessons take place around Fairfield, including at South Benson Marina.
