Fairfield University students returned to campus today to clean out their dorms for the first time since the university shut its doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As college students wrap up their semester of online learning, many returned to campus to gather their belongings that they left in their dorms prior to spring break, and the stay at home order issued by Gov. Ned Lamont.
Lt. Rob Didato, of the Department of Public Safety, says more than 3,000 students will move out over the next month.
The amount of students allowed in each dorm depends on its size, but typically two students are allowed per wing at one time, or four students per floor.
The university is allowing a two-hour window four times a day for students to clean out their dorms, and roommates are scheduled on different days.
They say social distancing is also being enforced in the parking lot, with two spots allowed in between each vehicle.
The university says there are 90 minute breaks in between each time slot, so the buildings can be cleaned.
