The Connecticut State Firefighters association held its annual service to remember fallen firefighters at the Connecticut Fire Academy in Windsor Locks Sunday.
The annual ceremony honors firefighters from across the state who died in the line of duty.
Gov. Ned Lamont and state fire officials were among those paying their respects.
“Whether from a big city or a small town, career or volunteer they gave their lives while protecting all of us,” says Peter Carozza, president of the Uniformed Professional Firefighters of Connecticut.
Among those remembered was former Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue Chief William Halstead, who died in July shortly after responding to a call.
