The city of Milford paid $30,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by a family whose daughter was banned from school due to Ebola fears, according to new documents.
As News 12 reported last October, Stephen Opayemi says his daughter, a third-grader at Meadowside Elementary School, was not allowed to go to class for more than 15 days after she took a trip to Nigeria to attend a wedding.
Nigeria was not one of the three West African countries stricken with widespread Ebola at the time.
The lawsuit claimed the city's health director told the family she could not return to her school due to concerns from parents and teachers that she could infect the other children with Ebola.
Officials say the girl did not show any symptoms of the virus.
