The family of an 84-year-old Bridgeport woman with Alzheimer's who went missing a few days ago is conducting their own search for her.
Teresa Zangrilli was last seen around 4 p.m. Sunday near the Marshall's sign next to the Price Rite on upper Main Street. She was wearing a pink fleece top over a beige v-neck shirt.
Police have been using choppers to help with the search for Zangrilli.
"We ask that the community please come together and help me and my family in finding my mother," says Zangrilli's daughter, Sandy Figueiredo.
Longtime family friend Irene McKenna says the lack of leads is a source of endless frustration.
"I mean, there are so many unanswered questions…that they have got to really investigate this situation and find out where she is," she says.
Emergency Management Director Scott Appleby says the city is sparing no resource in its 24/7 effort to bring Zangrilli home.
"Time is of the essence right now, we really do hope that our community here in Bridgeport, if you do see Ms. Zangrilli…contact 911," he says.
Zangrilli is a Brazilian immigrant, and her family is taking special care to alert the Portuguese-speaking community in Bridgeport that she is missing.
The family asks anyone who wants to help them search to meet at the Price Right on Upper Main Street at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Anybody with helpful information is asked to call (203) 576-TIPS.
