Father and daughter identified in Norwalk murder-suicide
A father and daughter are dead in Norwalk after an apparent murder-suicide.
Friends say that the father, Mark Wilkinson, had been living on his daughter’s couch for more than two years. Things turned violent Sunday evening when Melissa Wilkinson finally asked him to move out.
Co-workers found the body of 33-year-old Melissa Wilkinson inside the apartment at 66 Wilton Ave. just after midnight. The co-workers were worried because she had not shown up for work at Match restaurant on Sunday night.
After that, authorities say Mark Wilkinson started an all-night standoff before killing himself.
Police say they heard a single gunshot in the home, and utilizing a camera, they were able to determine that he had shot himself.
Mark Wilkinson was featured on News 12 back in 2013. Wilkinson ran a karate studio in Westport, but his lawyer says he lost the studio, went through a divorce and battled alcohol addiction.
