(06/26/07) STRATFORD ? A man suspected in a string of southwestern Connecticut bank robberies has been apprehended across state lines by federal agents.
The U.S. Marshal?s Violent Crime Task Force arrested 40-year-old Carmine Delgaizo in Westchester County, N.Y. Police believe Delgaizo robbed banks in various locations, including Stratford, Bridgeport and Trumbull.
Captain Chris Marino of the Stratford Police Department said the media broadcasts of bank surveillance video were key to Delgaizo?s arrest.
?We feel the media played a good role in helping us identify him and ultimately arrest him,? Marino said.
Police said Delgaizo was released from federal prison in September after serving 12 years. He is facing larceny and robbery charges. Police say Delgaizo waived extradition and will come back to Connecticut later this week.
