Firefighters in two different towns battled brush fires this weekend.
Fire crews in Redding responded to a fire that happened just before 1 a.m. Saturday on Newtown Turnpike.
Officials say a downed power line sparked the initial fire, which quickly spread due to the conditions. They add that the strong wings and steep terrain made it difficult to extinguish.
Firefighters in Easton and Weston also responded. The fire was contained after four hours.
Before responding to Redding, Weston firefighters put out a brush fire in the area of Goodhill Road that started just before 11 p.m. Friday.
Upon their arrival, firefighters found the 150 by 50 foot fire was rapidly spreading.
Crews were able to quickly contain the fire within 30 minutes.
