Some parts of southwestern Connecticut awoke Sunday to an unexpected snowfall.
After predictions of rain and wind, many residents were surprised and unprepared for the snow that coated their driveways and properties. Many were forced to brave the ice and slush to purchase snow shovels, salt and other materials to clear away the snow.
According to News 12 Connecticut meteorologist Lauren Collier, snow fell because a storm system came into the area quicker than expected. The atmosphere was saturated and temperatures were below freezing, resulting in snow, rather than rain.
