Former Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch is getting back into politics.

Finch has confirmed he will run for state Sen. Marilyn Moore's seat.

Moore announced her retirement on Wednesday on the last day of the legislative session.

Finch served in the senate in Moore's seat from 2001 to 2007.

"I'm running for the 22nd senatorial district because I know the district better than anybody running. I can serve it better and I've been in the Senate, I brought back money for all kinds of schools into this district, Trumbull Monroe and Bridgeport and our kids need better facilities and their parents need better jobs and that is what I am going to focus on," he said.

Along with Finch, three others are seeking the democratic nomination next week.
