A former New Canaan high school track star is recovering after being seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Rhode Island Thursday.
Police say Charles Austen Deery, 20, was filming a documentary on the side of a road in Cranston, Rhode Island around 6 p.m. when a silver car hit him. The car then fled the scene.
A witness told police that Deery, Brown University student, was flipped onto the hood of the car and fell into the road.
Deery's injuries are serious, but not life-threatening, investigators say. He suffered a broken collar bone and facial wounds.
