Former pit bull rescue president Heidi Lueders reported to York Correctional Institution Wednesday to serve a 15-month sentence.

She was acquitted of killing five dogs but convicted of destroying the home where she kept them.

Lueders was sentenced over two and a half years in May 2022 by a Bridgeport judge.

She was out on an appellate bond since then as she appealed the outcome of her case.

In November of 2018 Fairfield police found garbage, feces, and drug paraphernalia in the home Lueders was renting.

They also found the skeletons of five dogs locked in cages.

Lueders was found not guilty of animal cruelty at trial, but the judge said he did consider the dogs' deaths at sentencing.

The judge also ordered her to pay restitution to the homeowner.

Her sentence includes five years of probation.
