State Sen. Gayle Slossberg (D-Milford) hosted a forum Tuesday aimed at showing local officials how to take advantage of a new law designed to help their communities cut spending.
Slossberg invited Haddam and Killingworth Superintendent of Schools Gary Mala to teach officials from Orange, Milford and West Haven how to save millions of dollars by using reverse-auctioning.
Mala says the system is similar to eBay, but it works in real time and allows companies to bid on goods and services.
Slossberg says the state has approved the reverse-auctioning and is currently looking to pass a bill that will allow communities to bid on services.
