A Bridgeport man who was found shot to death in a burning car last week was laid to rest Saturday.
Jason Nieves, 28, was found in the vehicle in the North End of the city. Police say it's still not clear what led up to the killing, or if it was the shooter who returned to the scene later and lit the car on fire.
Services were held at Luz de Paz Funeral Home on East Washington Avenue where the young father was remembered as a kind-hearted person.
"His smile, his laughter, we will never forget the joy that he brought," his father told News 12.
Jason's stepmother, Inez Nieves, said he had a reputation for always working hard and for being loyal when it came to loving his family.
"He gave it his all… He loved everyone," she said.
Police tell News 12 Connecticut they have strong leads in the case and hope to make an arrest soon.
