Friends and family of a Wilton police officer gathered in Stamford today to pay their final respects.
A funeral for Sgt. Thomas "TJ" Tunney was held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. Tunney lost his battle to cancer.
Tunney passed away Sunday after serving more than three decades with the Wilton Police Department. Fellow officers say he was dedicated to the community and will be greatly missed.
"It's a very sad day for us, a really tough loss. TJ was loved by everybody at the police department," says Robert Kluk, of the Wilton Police Department.
Tunney was 61 years old.
Officers say they are looking for ways to honor him at the police station.
