Plenty of golfers hit the green Friday, taking the day off for the holiday weekend to make sure they had a spot on the course.
Employees at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course in Fairfield had to do a lot of work to make sure they were ready for opening day. The head pro told News 12 that this has been one of the most challenging years to bounce back from.
Fairchild Wheeler shoots to be completely open by Good Friday every year.
The head pro says that until the ground is dry and all the snow is gone, golf carts are not permitted on the course.
Golfers say they have been eager to get back to playing after a brutal winter.
