Gov. Lamont: 'We've got to get the transportation system moving'
Gov. Ned Lamont on Monday underscored a need to get Connecticut's transportation system “moving.”
The governor and local officials gathered in Waterbury at the site of a nearly $200 million project to remove and upgrade the Mixmaster bridge that connects Route 8 and I-84.
The project was approved under former Gov. Dannel Malloy and is being funded through both state bond and federal bridge money.
Lamont argues bringing tolls back to Connecticut can help pay for more projects similar to the Mixmaster.
He says if legislators give tolls the green light, he’ll conduct a study.
Gov. Lamont says infrastructure projects are needed not only for public safety, but also for economic development.
