Gov. Dannel Malloy is asking that church bells across the state ring 26 times in honor of the victims in Newtown.

He's also asking state residents to observe a moment of silence for the victims at 9:30 a.m. Friday, exactly one week after the attack.

The governor says he hopes the effort will let the parents know that the world stands with them.
