The Hyatt Regency in Greenwich hosted the annual Women's Business Development Council's gala and awards celebration Friday.
The nonprofit organization offers business and financial services to women entrepreneurs.
The keynote speaker this year was author and tennis professional, Katrina Adams. She has made a major impact in the world of sports, including her role as chairperson of the Fed Cup Committee and chairperson of the Gender Equality in Tennis Committee. She is the first Black woman, and youngest, to serve as president, chairman and CEO of the United States Tennis Association.
“I can bring my experiences to them to show them that they're not alone, and that there is room at the top,” says Adams.
Remarks were also given by Gov. Ned Lamont and Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz.
“We're here supporting these entrepreneurs,” says Lamont. “We provide funding, but also we provide day care and child care and all the things that make it possible for a woman to start her own business.”
The nonprofit's mission is to support economic prosperity for women in business.
