Greenwich town leaders are warning residents not to use irrigation systems to water their lawns.
Today the Board of Selectman enacted its "water shortage ordinance," which allows the town to issue $90 fines to violators.
The first selectman's office says the town reservoirs are approaching one third capacity, and they need to ensure water is available for emergency use.
Just last week the Aquarion Water Company issued a mandatory ban on using sprinklers in several communities, including Greenwich.
