Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz has announced an $800,000 grant from the Connecticut Department of Transportation to enhance pedestrian safety in Greenwich.
The funding will focus on improving three central intersections, installing additional accessible pedestrian signals, constructing ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps, and enhancing pavement markings.
Bysiewicz emphasized the importance of pedestrian safety, citing 224 fatalities on Connecticut's highways and roads and 48 pedestrian deaths as of Aug. 31.
"This is a huge priority — pedestrian and motorist safety," Bysiewicz said.
