Habitat for Humanity helps families become homeowners
Bridgeport families were given homes Saturday with the help of a nonprofit.
Habitat for Humanity and their volunteers helped the Larrea family and the Valiente family, who say they've struggled for years but never managed to earn enough money to buy a home.
The duplex that both families will reside in permanently has a no-interest loan.
Dulce Valiente says herself and her family of four women came to the U.S. from Mexico 17 years ago and spent the past several years living in a single room.
Family members say it will be a dream come true for each of them, since they will now have privacy.
City officials say Habitat for Humanity is helping hard-working families finally get ahead.
A total of eight people will be living in the home.
