Four people were arrested Monday in connection with an auto theft ring that stretched from Stamford to New Haven, police say.
The thieves specifically targeted Hondas and Acuras, because the parts are interchangeable, police said. They?ve linked about half a dozen cars to the crew.
The thieves stole cars and stripped them of their parts, police say. The parts were then either sold or put on another vehicle for racing purposes.
Police warn residents to be aware of the thefts that have been occurring, especially those who own Hondas or Acuras.
?Common sense would tell you don?t leave the car running when you just run in for a pack of cigarettes or a gallon of milk,? Lt. Sean Cooney said. ?Turn the car off and lock the car and I think you?ll be all right.?
Stamford police are asking anyone with any information on the car theft ring to contact them at 203-977-4407.
