Hawley Lane Shoes in Shelton is donating 200 pairs of therapeutic footwear to essential workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Owners of the shoe store say they came up with an idea for helping front-line workers put their best foot forward in the fight against coronavirus.
David Levy and Joe Gradia say they want the public to nominate 200 men and women from medical workers to first responders, grocery store workers, delivery personnel, and U.S. postal workers who are putting their lives on the line.
Hawley Lane Shoes will donate a brand new pair of their top-of-the line therapeutic Haflingers to each person selected by the community. The shoe store is a family-run business founded by Levy's mother, Sandy, and Bob Smolensky.
They are calling the campaign "Shoes For Heroes." Levy says that his sister is a health care employee who is working 12 hours a day.
The owners say when it comes to assisting people who are risking their lives in the battle against coronavirus, it's important not just to talk the talk, but to walk the walk.
